The UK’s existing copper networks for telephone and internet services are scheduled for decommission in December 2025, more and more of Wishtower’s clients are looking to upgrade their infrastructure to fibre optic technology.
Given the clock is ticking, the government is currently offering the telecommunication companies incentives to install the necessary infrastructure into properties. This means most developments will benefit from free fibre installations. These incentives are unlikely to continue beyond late 2025, when service providers are anticipated to charge for installations, potentially costing tens of thousands of pounds per building.
Wishtower is working hard to ensure the change to fibre broadband is as seamless as possible for our clients and residents. We also anticipate our clients will have many questions about the process and potential pitfalls, as well as acknowledging there is not a one size fits all.
